Deadlines / Entry Fees

The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival is comprised of two festivals - The Logline Festival and The Screenplay Festival.  Deadlines and Entrance Fees are as follows:

 

The Logline Festival - SUBMIT NOW!

  • FREE Entrance Fee.
  • 12:00am on December 11, 2009 - Festival Submissions Open .
  • 11:59pm on February 28, 2010 - Festival Submissions Close.
  • Multiple Loglines can be submitted from the same author.
  • March 10, 2010 - Selected loglines will be posted on the website.
  • March 10, 2010 to 11:59pm on the May 31, 2010 - Online Voting Process.
  • Each contestant is allowed one FREE revision to their logline.  There will be an additional $5.00 charge to update your logline more then once.
  • To submit a revised logline please visit the Submissions page under Types of Submissions - Revised Logline Submission.
  • Viewers must Vote and comment / review on a minimum of TEN Loglines for your votes to count and to be eligible for "The Voter's Award."
  • The final Deadline for submissions to the Logline Festival is at 11:59pm on February 28, 2010. All entries received on or before this date are eligible for The Philadelphia Logline Festival.
  • You may  NOT vote on each contestants Logline more then once.  If you do so you will be disqualified.

If you are a Finalist of the Logline Festival and have not completed your screenplay by the Screenplay Festival Submission date then you will be able to enter the next years screenplay competition for a $15 entrance fee so long as you have your email address and password information.

If you are one of the Winning Logline then your right to waive the Screenplay Festival Submission Fee WILL NOT carry over to the following year.  You will have to pay a $15 entrance fee for the screenplay competition so long as you have your email address and password.

If you have already submitted a Submission Fee into the Screenplay Festival and then discover you are a Logline Festival Finalist, you WILL NOT be reimbursed but may however submit a SECOND SCRIPT for the reduced fee of $15 or FREE if you are the Logline Festival Winner.

  • Early Deadline ($25):  December 11, 2009 - February 2, 2010

  • Regular Deadline ($30): February 3, 2010 - April 2, 2010

  • Late Deadline ($35): April 3, 2010 - May 31, 2010

  • Mail must be postmarked by 11:59 PM on the Final Day.

  • $15 Entrance Fee - Only for the Finalists of the Logline Festival.
  • FREE Entrance Fee - Only for the Top Three Winners of the Logline Festival. Label the application - "Logline Top Three Winner."
  • 12:00am on December 11, 2009 - Festival Submissions Open.
  • END of August, 2010 - Screenplays will be posted on the website.
  • END of August, 2010 to 11:59pm on December 2, 2010 - Online Voting Process. (A MINIMUM OF 15 SCREEPLAYS will be accepted into the Online Festival - not every script submitted will be entered into the Online Festival.)
  • Revisions are allowed on the screenplays during this phase along with a $5.00 processing fee. To submit a revision please visit the Submission page under Types of Submissions - Revised Screenplay Submission.
  • Additional categories - All submissions qualify a script to compete in ONE category. Each additional category requires an additional $5.00 entry fee.  There are FOUR groups of categories.  Submitting a screenplay to TWO groups requires an additional fee of $5.00.  To apply for an additional category please visit the Submissions page under Types of Submissions - Additional Category Submission.
  • You must vote on and review a minimum of TWO screenplays (other than yours if you are a member) for your vote to count and to be eligible for "The Voter's Award."
  • The final Deadline for submissions to The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival is May 31, 2010. All entries postmarked on or before this date are eligible for The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival.
  • You may  NOT vote on each contestants Screenplay more then once.  If you do so you will be disqualified.
Awards - All Grand Prizes and Honorable Mentions will be announced four to six months after the final deadline. Winning scripts will remain posted on the website, winning contestants will be allowed to submit one revised script update per year.  Each additional revised submission requires a $5.00 processing fee.  To submit a screenplay revision please visit the Submission page under Types of Submissions - Revised Screenplay Submission.

PLEASE NOTE: One hundred percent of all fees will be plowed back into the Festival, e.g., building the best possible website, publicity and advertising, size of Awards, dinner for winners, etc.

The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival has established the following rules for contestants in the competition:

When you submit your screenplay, please do not put any contact information on the script, only the title. Please submit an extra contact sheet / title page with the title of your screenplay and contact information.
  1. All writers of submitted material must be 18 years or older, including co-authored material.
  2. Screenplays must be 90 to 135 pages in length.
  3. Logline must be no longer then one sentence.
  4. Screenplays written by teams of two or more writers are eligible for The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival. Any award won by a co-authored script will be divided evenly among the writers listed on the entry form.
  5. Screenplays that have been previously optioned, sold or produced are not eligible to compete in The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival.
  6. Screenplays must be the original work of the author.
    • Screenplays adapted from other sources that were written by other authors (such as but not limited to books or plays) are not eligible to compete in The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival, regardless of the source author's permission.
    • Screenplays adapted from other sources by the author of that source are not eligible to compete in The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival if the source material has previously optioned, sold or produced.
  7. Submissions of new drafts or corrected pages will be accepted as long as they follow the terms (One free update for each contestant each festival period. One free update for festival winners each year.)
  8. Screenplays must be submitted in English.
  9. A writer may enter more than one screenplay; however, a separate entry form and fee are required for each script submitted. For multiple screenplay submissions, there is a $5.00 discount on only one of the screenplay submissions.

Voting

  1. Logline Festival
    • Loglines will be posted on the website for viewers and judges to vote.
    • Each member (contestant or viewer) will be able to vote ONE time on each logline. They will have the option to give reviews on each logline for the contestant to improve their loglines.  You must vote and comment/review on a minimum of TEN loglines for your votes to count and to be eligible for "The Voter's Award."
    • Judges will cast their vote on each logline only ONE vote per logline.  They will be able to review each logline as well.
    • The winning loglines are determined by the average of the viewers votes plus the average of the judges votes (50% viewers + 50% judges). 
    • The top three loglines will have they screenplay entrance fee waived. The logline finalists will only have to pay and entrance fee of $15 to enter the screenplay competition.
  2. Screenplay Festival
    • Screenplays will be posted on the website for viewers and judges to vote.
    • Each member (contestant or viewer) will be able to vote ONE time on each script. They will have the option to give reviews on each script for the contestant to improve their screenplays.  You must vote on and review a minimum of TWO screenplays (other than yours if you are a member) for your votes to count and to be eligible for "The Voter's Award."
    • Judges will cast their vote on each script only ONE vote per script.  They will be able to review each script as well.
    • The winning screenplays are determined by the average of the viewers votes "plus" the average of the judges votes (50% viewers + 50% judges).

"The Voter's Award"

  1. Logline Festival
    • $20 will be awarded to the TOP REVIEWER of the logline festival.  They will have the option of submitting their photo, email address, and brief bio to be posted on the "top reviewers page (Logline Festival)."
  2. Screenplay Festival
    • $40 will be awarded to the TOP REVIEWER of the screenplay festival.  They will have the option of submitting their photo, email address, and and brief bio to be posted on the "top reviewers page (Screenplay Festival)."
