A logline is not protected from theft and
cannot have a copyright. Ideas cannot have a copyright and are not
protected from theft. However, screenplays are protected if they have a
copyright and/or have been submitted to the writers guild (Writers Guild,
East or Writers Guild, West). Therefore, if you have a written screenplay
and have a copyright and submitted to the Writers Guild and you submit
your logline to The Philadelphia Screenplay Festival, then you do not have
to worry about theft since you have protected your screenplay. This is why
we encourage writers to post their logline after you have finished and
protected you screenplay.
If you submit a logline to the festival and do
not have a finished screenplay by the start of the Screenplay Festival,
then you will be removed from this year's festival. You will be
allowed to resubmit your logline into next year's festival - your votes
will not carryover.
If your logline summery does not match your
screenplay story then your screenplay will be removed from the festival
and the entrance fee will be returned to you excluding a $10.00 removal
fee.
